Set in the Yorkshire Dales, Ripon is an undulating course with a long five-furlong run-in that has proven a very popular track with locals and tourists alike. The highlight of their year is the Great St Wilfrid Handicap, one of the leading sprint races of the season, which takes place during August. One of the most attractive racecourses in Britain, the course delivers a lively and friendly atmosphere ideal for families.

Effect of the Draw

High numbers are definitely best in big-field sprints, particularly on soft ground. But when there are 15 runners or fewer, low numbers, who race nearest the stand rail, are favoured. Put a line straight through anything drawn 7-13. High numbers are just about best on the round course.
Concentrate on: the top four stalls over 5f and 6f when 16+ runners, the bottom six stalls when 15 or fewer, Cross out: all runners drawn between 7 and 13 in sprints.

Facilities

Food & Drink
An "A La Carte" menu is served in the Members Dining Room with a choice of three or four courses. Average cost £16.50 per person. All table reservations should be made direct with the caterers. Please contact Diane Lindsay on 0113 287 6387. The Paddock Room is self service with a choice of light snacks and sandwiches. St Wilfrid Bar - Main Members Enclosure Bar with sandwiches and coffee also available. Champagne Bar - Seafood specialities available throughout the day. The Fountains Cafe in the Tattersalls Enclosure is a self-service restaurant with a choice of hot and cold food. Tea and coffee is also available.

Disabled friendly Info
Racegoers in wheelchairs are granted free admission. Car Parking is available for disabled racegoers with an orange badge on a first come first served basis as limited space is available. The Tattersalls and the Club has facilities for the disabled.

Corporate Info
The Rowels Boxes can be hired where you can enjoy a private lunch room with a viewing balcony area available to suit the size of your party from 25 to 100 guests. This self contained area in the main grandstand is accessible by lift and includes a Tote betting point. Or you can hire a Chalet private lunch room with a terrace situated near to the Parade Ring that can host up to 35 guests. Cost £175.00 plus VAT. The New Claro Room is situated near to the bandstand for up to 50 guests. Cost £245.00 plus VAT.

Location
Ripon Racecourse is located in the Yorkshire Dales with easy access from the A1 (M).

By Road
Ripon racecourse is situated two miles south of the centre of the town on the B6265 off the A1 (M).

By Rail
The nearest train stations are Harrogate or York. A taxi or bus will be required to the centre of Ripon.

By Air
Helicopter landing at the course by prior arrangement.

Parking
Free car and coach parking is available.
