Doctor Fremantle was produced with a perfectly timed challenge by Ryan Moore to take the Princess Of Wales's Blue Square Stakes at Newmarket.

Sir Michael Stoute's 8-1 chance was slowly away and was settled towards the rear in the Group Two contest, but when produced to challenge he wore down the front-running Schiaparelli to score by a neck.

Alwaary was the hard luck story of the race, having been hampered on the rail by Schiaparelli when delivering his challenge before finishing fast to take third. The stewards promoted him to second.

There was more interference behind, as a result of which Enroller was demoted from fourth to sixth. Ted Durcan (Schiaparelli) was suspended for four days and Martin Dwyer (Enroller) for three.

Moore said: "I wanted to be a bit handier on him, but he just has a habit of sitting in the stalls a bit and missed the kick.

"We got a nice lead though and I followed Duncan, who I thought was the horse to beat, and that just kept him interested and he settled nicely. When he was in front he was probably only doing enough."

Stoute, winning the race for the seventh time, added: "I don't know what happened in the Hardwicke (seventh of nine). We thought he was one of our best chances at Royal Ascot, but that ended up being a funny race.

"He has a lot of options. I'd say the King George may be doubtful as he's had two runs quite close together. He is entered in the Juddmonte International at York."

Trainer John Gosden said: "Alwaary ran great and he was a little unfortunate not to be closer, but he got crossed. He's a possible for the Gordon Stakes and the Great Voltigeur."

Saeed bin Suroor added: "Schiaparelli ran a big race. He had a foot problem and it was his first run since the Arc and he'll come on for the race. We are disappointed with Campanologist. Frankie (Dettori) said he wasn't happy with the way he moved."
