THE opening maiden at Lingfield looks a weak affair and the perfect opportunity for CASHPOINT (Lingfield, 2.10) to make his mark on the Flat.
The lightly-raced five-year-old is already a winner of a bumper at the track on Polytrack but looks more than capable of winning a small maiden under the different code. He travelled well and actually hit the front over course and distance 24 days but found one too good in the impressive winner, Kindlelight Sun. Whilst he didn't clock off the scale, he achieved enough to put him out in front today. PENTOMINIUM (Lingfield, 3.10) made the racetrack just once as a two-year-old but it was a promising performance on quick going at Newcastle. He finished fast after running green and is expected to be fit enough first time out this year. RED SOMERSET (Lingfield, 3.40) wins his fair share of races on the all-weather and has had a decent time of it this winter. He's still well handicapped and with a top speed figure for this race, is fancied to win again. Sam Turner is a racing journalist and tipster. Read his tips every day in the Daily Mail.
