A popular course, particularly with local trainers, Catterick provides a mix of Flat and National Hunt racing. A sharp, left-handed, oval track of just over a mile, the course lends itself well to the nimble individual that can lie handy. The atmosphere is friendly and meetings are well attended.

Effect of the Draw

On soft ground, high numbers are best in 5f races, but when the ground is good or firmer, low numbers are definitely favoured (and over 5f 212yds). On soft ground, horses that are switched over to race nearest the Stand's Rail are always favoured in round-course races, so keep an eye out for high numbers who race near the pace - they have first refusal.
Concentrate on: (fast ground) the bottom six stalls over 5f and 5f 212yds, (soft ground) the top six stalls over 5f, Cross out: (soft ground) the bottom six stalls when 12-14 runners over 5f 212yds, the bottom eight stalls when 16-18 runners over 7f.

Location
Catterick Racecourse is situated on the outskirts of Catterick village approximatley five miles south of Scotch Corner.

By Road
A1 - leave at the Catterick exit and follow road through Catterick village.

By Rail
Darlington is the most conveniently situated station, 15 miles from the racecourse. Buses run frequently to the course from the station. Please call United Buses on Tel: 08706 082608.

By Air
RAF Leeming is 10 miles south of Catterick. Helicopter landing on the racecourse with prior permission. Please Tel: 01748 811478.
